It seems like every disc golf company has their own sort of entry-level disc golf tournament designed to get beginners and players of all ages involved. Discraft kicked things off by creating the Ace Race, the Trilogy partnership (Dynamic Discs, Latitude 64, and Westside Discs) have the Trilogy Challenge, Legacy Discs has the Battle of the Aces, and Prodigy has their Par 2 challenge.
One other tournament series has become a mainstay of the disc golf season, and it’s the Vibram Birdie Bash. This year, Steve Dodge decided to create the Vibram Birdie Bash World Championship (check out the interview we did with Steve back in January). The inaugural VBB World Championship took place in Kalamazoo, MI at Cold Brook Park, and SmashBoxxTV was on hand to cover it live.
While Johnny V managed the controls back in Wisconsin, Terry Miller was on scene to commentate the coverage as well as conduct interviews with Steve Dodge and a host of competitors from junior and advanced divisions. If you missed out on the live coverage, here are the archived videos from all both days of the 144 person event:
We owe a big thank you to SmashBoxxTV for covering this unique event, and congratulations are in order for the four winners from the weekend:
Steve Dodge is known for his impressive tournament directing (just look at the job he does with the Maple Hill Open), and we’re excited to see how this event grows in years to come.
