Just a few weeks after unveiling the Disc Golf World Tour, tour director Jussi Meresmaa and the DGWT staff have secured Simon Lizotte for the 2016 tour. Lizotte joins Paul McBeth as Athlete Ambassadors for the DGWT.
In a release, Meresmaa says he’s excited to have the distance world record holder on board, “Simon has made a deep impact to the Disc Golf community over the last two years. He is the undisputed trick shot master and really cool guy off the course. Where ever he goes, he has fans. It’s mesmerizing to watch him throw. We definitely want to get him deeply involved with the Disc Golf World Tour and promotions around it.”
Lizotte believes the bar has been raised with the addition of the DGWT and he’s anxious to see what happens, “My expectations are pretty high for the Disc Golf World Tour events. All the way from course design, course equipment, tournament organization and competition level to media coverage and professionalism, these events should set new standards in disc golf.”
The inaugural season for the 2016 Disc Golf World Tour begins in March in California. Three events will be held in Europe and three in the United States including the Championship event in Rock Hill, South Carolina in October.
