After being announced at the 2015 United States Disc Golf Championship, the wait for the Disc Golf World Tour is officially over. Wednesday afternoon’s final practice round for the 120 professional disc golfers at the La Mirada Open sets the stage for three days of action.
The first of five international events begins Thursday morning with tee times running until early afternoon. Live video coverage will be available Friday and Saturday for the final two rounds thanks to The Spin TV. Additional video coverage can be found exclusively at the official Disc Golf World Tour website.
In a press release, La Mirada Open Tournament Director Jeff Spohr says having this marquee event at the world’s second oldest permanent disc golf course is special, “La Mirada has hosted many great events from the original La Mirada Open, US Masters, to the Golden State Classic. The course has been home to innovators in our sport and with a unique layout in place for this event, the sport’s top performers will certainly be tested.”
With a team of of 5 event managers, 15 media professionals, and 60 volunteers on hand, Tour Director Jussi Meresmaa is ready to get things going.
“Along with the best competitors, we’ve brought in a number of people from around the world to bring disc golf broadcasting to a new level. It takes an army to pull something like this off and you won’t find a better crew than what we have for the La Mirada Open,” Meresmaa stated.
